Drywall installation and repair in Miami

Hanging new board and patching holes, cracks and water marks, in a clean and efficient process.

What breaks drywall in a Miami home

Interior walls take a beating from everyday life: a door handle swung too hard, a ladder tipped against the hallway, a picture hook pulled out with its anchor. Add humidity that never really leaves a Miami house and the paper face softens, which makes every small dent worse.

Cracks near doors and windows come from the building settling, and brown rings on a ceiling come from water. Block homes with a flat roof or old plumbing runs show these marks often. The first job is reading which kind of damage you have, because a crack and a leak need different answers.

How a patch disappears into the wall

A patch that lasts starts by cutting back to solid, dry board and squaring the opening. Larger holes get a back-block behind them so the new piece has something to bond to. Then comes tape across the seams and three thin skims of compound, each one feathered wider than the last and sanded smooth once it cures.

Last, the patch gets primed and the wall texture is matched, whether the wall is smooth or carries the orange peel common in South Florida houses. New installation follows the same care: boards hung tight, seams staggered, screws set just below the surface. Call (786) 275-7842 for a free quote on a single hole or a whole room.

After the patch: paint and leaks

A fresh patch needs paint to finish the job. If only the patch gets color, it often shows as a lighter square, so the usual fix is to coat the whole wall from corner to corner. We can handle that too, and the painting side works from the same plan.

If a stain comes back after the patch dries, treat it as a leak that is still active. Fix the source first, whether that is a supply line, a roof edge or a window frame, then repair the board. Patching over a wet wall hides the problem for a few weeks, and in a humid Miami summer mold follows right behind it.

What we patch most often

Door-handle holes

A knob that swung into the wall leaves a crater with crushed paper around it. We cut back to solid board and fill the gap with a backed patch.

Settling cracks

Cracks that start at door corners and window heads come from the house moving. Tape bridges the line so the crack does not simply reopen.

Water marks after the leak is fixed

A brown ring on the ceiling is a clue first. Once the source is stopped and the board has dried, we cut out what stayed soft and patch.

Hallway dings

Furniture, bikes and grocery bags dent the corners and the lower wall. Small dings take a skim coat, sanded flat and primed.
